The first Monday of May has come and gone, marking the end of the highly anticipated MET Gala event, also known as the Fashion Olympics. This year's event took place at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and it has undoubtedly captured the attention of the entire fashion world. The theme for this year's MET Gala was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the dress code was "The Garden of Time". These themes encouraged the attendees to showcase unique and creative perspectives on fashion. The co-chairs for this year's event were Zendaya, Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth, who all brought their own sense of flair and style to the occasion.
As an avid follower of fashion, I have carefully analyzed the outfits of the attendees and have selected my personal top looks. My criteria for selecting the best looks were based on how well the outfits followed the theme and how creatively they were able to bring a new spin to fashion.
Zendaya
Obviously, I have to start with the Fashion Queen herself, the amazing co-chair Zendaya. Zendaya has been killing it this year already with her fashion choices for Dune: Part Two and Challengers press. So, there was no surprise that she would be at the top of the list at the MET. Her first look was a green and blue Maison Margiela gown. Not only was the dress on point, but the makeup was also perfect. The look went perfectly with the carpet, and she looked like a character straight out of Alice in Wonderland. And just when I thought Zendaya outdid herself, a second look was on the way. And with Rihanna not bein in attendance this year, it was Zendaya's turn to fulfill that role of MET Gala queen.
In this pic, Zendaya is wearing her second outfit, which was designed by the brilliant fashion designer Law Roach, who is known for creating looks that are both fashionable and popular. I thought Zendaya's second look was even better than her first. It looked good on her, and she seemed more relaxed in it. Her second look was a Givenchy Haute Couture gown by John Galliano with a headpiece by Alexander McQueen. She looked amazing in both outfits. This year, she took her co-chair position very seriously.
Cynthia Ervio
Ervio's appearance is absolutely stunning! She is wearing a two-piece suit designed by Thom Browne that accentuates her figure and makes her look like a fairy tale character. The combination of her angelic face structure and the suit's elegant design is simply breathtaking. What's more, the contrast between her skin complexion and the flowers around her makes her stand out even more. I also appreciate the fact that she chose to wear a suit instead of a traditional dress, proving that women can rock suits just as well. All in all, Ervio looks absolutely gorgeous and her fashion sense is truly inspiring.
Ariana Grande
At the gala, Ervio was dressed in a stunning outfit that perfectly balanced her light and whimsical side. She wore a dark-colored dress adorned with pink flowers that added a playful touch to her overall look. On the other hand, Grande opted for an innocent pearl white Loewe dress designed by Jonathan Anderson. Being a performer at the event, she had to make a statement with her second look, and she did not disappoint. Her second outfit was a gorgeous Maison Margiela dress from John Galliano's haute collection. The dress was just as impressive as her first look, and it left everyone in awe.
It has been recently announced that the talented duo, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, are going to be the leading ladies in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical, Wicked. The two actresses will be portraying the beloved characters of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. One thing that has caught my attention and admiration is the way Grande and Erivo have been using their fashion sense to bring their characters to life even beyond the big screen. Their fashion choices have been impeccable and truly reflect the essence of Glinda and Elphaba's personalities. The marketing strategy employed brilliant as it builds up the excitement and anticipation for the movie's release.
Taylor Russell
Everyone remembers their firsts. Taylor Russell's look for her first MET is truly memorable.
At the MET, Russell made an entrance that was hard to forget. She was wearing a wooden corset that looked both fun and playful. However, it was a challenge for her to walk in it, and she had to be carried over the carpet. Nonetheless, Russell managed to pull off the Loewe look with ease, and she looked stunning in it. The beige color of the corset brought out the pop of brown in the veins, adding an extra layer of detail to the outfit. It was clear that Russell had fully understood and followed the theme, as she looked every bit like a garden goddess. It's often said that 'beauty is pain,' and in this case, Russell embodied that spirit by wearing a corset that was both beautiful and challenging to wear.
Tyla
Another first time MET Gala attendee was also present. Tyla looked absolutely stunning and impressive. Her ensemble was so impressive that she even outshone some of the MET Gala veterans in attendance. Tyla's brown sand-colored dress, paired with an hourglass purse, was the highlight of her outfit. However, what really set her look apart was the sandy makeup that covered her skin, creating a stunning sandy effect. It was a long-awaited moment for Tyla to finally receive an invite to the prestigious event.

I want you to look at this TikTok real quick.
Now look again.
The attention to detail in every aspect of the ensemble was simply breathtaking. From the intricate hairstyle to the flawless makeup, everything was executed beautifully. The outfit exuded an effortless elegance that left onlookers in awe. The stunning Iris Van Herpen butterfly gown did justice to the occasion, and it was clear that no expense was spared in selecting such a magnificent dress. Overall, it was a truly remarkable sight to behold.
Doja Cat
Upon seeing Doja Cat's attire at the Met Gala, I was initially uncertain about her look. It appeared somewhat lackluster, particularly given her bold fashion choices. Additionally, I was apprehensive due to her previous look which featured a towel covering both her body and head. However, I was gladly proven wrong. After analyzing various interpretations and comparisons, it became apparent that Doja Cat's outfit was inspired by a statue that one might find in an exquisite garden. This added layer of complexity elevated the outfit from being simply mundane to a more intricate piece. The gown she wore was created by the esteemed fashion house, Vetements.
Wisdom Kaye
As I watched Wisdm Kaye walk on the Met, it was like seeing a child grow up and go to college - a moment of pride and accomplishment. Kaye is undoubtedly a fashion legend, known for his unique and highly desirable fashion sense that he showcases on his TikTok account. His fashion influence has been unparalleled, and he has proven to be a staple in the fashion industry. During the event, Kaye was seen wearing an all-red tailcoat and hat, designed by Robert Wu. The outfit was nothing short of dramatic and made him one of the best-dressed male celebrities of the night. His presence at the event was a testament to his fashion prowess, and he effortlessly turned heads with his sophisticated ensemble.
Anok Yai
It's truly remarkable how the colors of the outfit complement Yai's skin tone so well and make her look even more radiant. The 98,000 Swarovski crystals that are delicately adorned on the dress add to the overall beauty of the look, and the way they glisten under the light is simply breathtaking. The makeup that has been done is nothing short of stunning, with every detail carefully crafted to highlight the model's natural features. It's as if the whole look has been plucked straight out of a fairy tale, with an ethereal quality that can only be described as magical. Despite all this, I can't help but feel like Yai is still an underrated favorite of the gala, and deserves more recognition for her impeccable sense of style.
