As sad as it is to see the Original Six Avengers depart, it is time for a new generation of Marvel heroes. Phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or MCU, has already introduced a spectacular array of heroes that are living up to the MCU’s reputation.
Here is a list of my favorite projects in the MCU phase four so far:
#8 Hawkeye
Marvel Studios/ Marvel. com
This Disney+ show was very entertaining to watch and the idea of having it set during Christmas time gave a real festive feel to the show. The retirement of Clint Barton’s Hawkeye gave the fans some closure on the character. Also, a new female hero was introduced with Hailee Steinfield ‘s Kate Bishop expanding the female hero selection. Plus, the chemistry that Kate and Yelena (Florence Pugh) is something that I cannot wait to see develop in the future.
#7 Eternals
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
This is one of Marvel’s most stunning visuals in a movie. The whimsical and fantastical effects really show the effort that was put into this movie. I also cannot forget to mention the diverse cast in this movie showing that not all heroes look alike. The nice cherry on top is the introduction of the one and only… Blade in the second post credit scene. To finally get a glimpse of the new Blade, even if it’s just his voice, was really nowhere short of exciting.
#6 Loki
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
It was so nice to see Loki again in this Disney+ series. After his not so happy ending in Infinity War, I was happy to see him in a different light. This anti-hero soon became one of my favorite characters and his character development was truly satisfying to watch unfold. I finally got to see his emotions and his caring side and I’m glad there is more to this character then being mischievous.
#5 Black Widow
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
Scarlet Johansson will truly be missed as her portrayal of Natasha Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow. This is the first female hero that I have seen on the big screen and the doors that Black Widow opened for other female heroes will always be appreciate. This final movie with Black Widow had the right amount of action mixed with the right amount of heart that gave me, what felt like, a good final goodbye to her. Even with Natasha gone, Yelena’s character will make up for the loss.
#4 Falcon and the Winter Soldier
imbd.com
Falcon and the Winter Soldier gave me a different look at superheroes. This show highlighted that not every hero has a fancy mansion to go back, nor do they bounce back as fast. With Anthony Mackie’s Falcon taking over as the new Captain America I think that this was a great rebrand. An African American man as Captain America shows that there is hope and the diversity that Marvel is embodying in this new phase is surely something that needed to happen for a long time.
# 3 Wandavison
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
After watching this Emmy- Nominated series, Wanda Maximoff can do no wrong in my eyes. With the amazing acting, great plot, and high-quality visuals, this Disney+ series soon became a favorite Marvel TV show so far. Eliabeth Olsen's acting really shines in this star along with her other costars. The revealed of Wanda's true powers was really exciting to see unravel and I cannot wait to see how much her character develops in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.
#2 Shang Chi and the Ten Rings
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
Shang-Chi was such a good character to introduce to the MCU! His martial art skills mixed with his power really shows his strength and shows his values. Additionally, the inclusion pf the Asian culture gave the movie a very authentic touch to the Marvel franchise. Side note: I was also a really big fan of Shang- Chi's sister Xu Xia ling, showing once again the power of the females in Marvel.
#1 Spiderman: No Way Home
Marvel Studios/ Marvel.com
I know right, what a shocker... but, this was hands down one of the best Marvel movies that I have experienced. There wasn't a single scene in this movie that I did not like. Tom Holland's acting was at an all-time high and the action scenes left me at the edge of my seat. Also, I cannot forget to mention the two special guests taht pooped up: Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. The nostalgia I felt when those two was backed on the big scene with their Spiderman suits encapsulated me. I cannot wait to see the further development of Tom Holland's Peter Parker in future MCU projects.
What are your thoughts about the list? What would you change? Comment down below and make sure to check out MoonKnight on Disney+ every Wednesday and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness coming to theaters on May 6th.
As I watched these shows I totally agree with your list. I was a little disappointed with Eternals. I was very disappointed with the storyline
Great list! I definitely agree with your number one. I’m curious though…what are your top 5 all time favorite Marvel movies? 🤔 Can we get an article about that soon 🤗
