Drama Series
“Andor”
“Better Call Saul”
“The Crown”
“House of the Dragon”
“The Last of Us”
“Succession”
“The White Lotus”
“Yellowjackets”
Who I want to Win: The Last of Us
My reason for wanting The Last of Us to win is because everything about that show was well crafted. The cinematography was amazing and I feel like it really brought the world to life. Not to mention the well received praise of the video game adaptation. I love the horror genre and this show fulfilled my imagination well. But, it was more than just a 'zombie show', it was a show about growth, family, and trust. Overall, this show had all the components that makes it a Emmy winning classic.
Comedy Series
“Abbott Elementary”
“Barry”
“The Bear”
“Jury Duty”
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
“Only Murders in the Building”
“Ted Lasso”
“Wednesday”
Who I Want To Win: Abbot Elementary
Even though I watch majority of the nominees on this list, I will always root for Abbott Elementary. The show is funny, yet heartwarming. The second season dealt with more serious struggles that public school teachers face. There can be many lessons learned and. Plus, the show was written and created by a black women with a majority black cast! Therefore, I will always support it.
Limited Series
“Beef”
“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”
“Daisy Jones & the Six”
“Fleishman Is in Trouble”
“Obi-Wan Kenobi”
Who I want to Win: Daisy Jones and the Six
I have not yet gotten around to watching the TV series adaptation of Daisy Jones, but I did really enjoy the book. If the show is anything like the book then I already know how beautiful it was. The casting was prefect and I hope that this show gets the recognition.
Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Jeff Bridges (“The Old Man”)
Brian Cox (“Succession”)
Kieran Culkin (“Succession”)
Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”)
Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”)
Jeremy Strong (“Succession”)
Who I Want to Win: Pedro Pascal ('The Last of Us')
FUN FACT: If Pedro Pascal takes home the Emmy, he will be the first Latino actor to win in this category. That is why I want him to win. I want to see history being made instead of having the same person winning every year. As said earlier, I loved the show and the popularity that Pascal gained due to the show was well deserved.
Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Sharon Horgan (“Bad Sisters”)
Melanie Lynskey (“Yellowjackets”)
Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”)
Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”)
Keri Russell (“The Diplomat”)
Sarah Snook (“Succession”)
Who I want to Win: Bella Ramsey ('The Last of Us')
ANOTHER FUN FACT: Bella Ramsey is the second time that a nonbinary actor nomination in this category. However, Ramsey have the opportunity to be the first nonbinary person to win in this category. Also, at the age of 19, Ramsey could break the record of being the youngest winner in this category which is previously held by Zendaya. Bella's win could change the course of this category and add more range in the nominee pool.
Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Bill Hader (“Barry”)
Jason Segel (“Shrinking”)
Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building”)
Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso”)
Jeremy Allen White (“The Bear”)
Who I Want To Win: Jeremy Allen White ('The Bear')
Jeremy Allen White put on a showstopping performance in The Bear. I liked Jeremy in Shameless for his role as Phillip 'Lip' Gallagher, so it was no surprise that his talents transferred to The Bear. I always thought that he should have been nominated earlier in his career, but I am glad that he got nominated now.
Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Christina Applegate (“Dead to Me”)
Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)
Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”)
Natasha Lyonne (“Poker Face”)
Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”)
Who I Want To Win: Qunita Brunson ('Abbott Elementary)
I actually think that Quinta have a very strong chance of winning in this category. While I like Jenna Ortega in Wednesday I think Quinta's comedic performance was better. This is Quinta's second nomination in this category, so this may be her year. Janine's life was delved into more this season and it is great learning more about the character. Creating a connection with character and audience is important when establishing a show.
Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Taron Egerton (“Black Bird”)
Kumail Nanjiani (“Welcome to Chippendales”)
Evan Peters (“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”)
Daniel Radcliffe (“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story”)
Michael Shannon (“George & Tammy”)
Steven Yeun (“Beef”)
Who I Want To Win: Steven Yeun ('Beef')
Beef is another show that I did not get around to watching yet, but I heard nothing but great things about the show. I have seen Steven Yuen in other films/TV shows, so I know the extent of his talents. So, this could be the opportunity for Yuen to snag a award for those talents.
Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie
Lizzy Caplan (“Fleishman Is in Trouble”)
Jessica Chastain (“George & Tammy”)
Dominique Fishback (“Swarm”)
Kathryn Hahn (“Tiny Beautiful Things”)
Riley Keough (“Daisy Jones & the Six”)
Ali Wong (“Beef”)
Who I Want To Win: Dominique Fishback ('Swarm')
Fishback's performance was INCREDIBLE! I only watched this show because it was trendy and everyone was talking about. But, I was pleasantly surprised by Dominique. Her acting style is intriguing and I was left with many thoughts in my head. I would even call this a breakthrough performance for the actress. I am confident that the voters will see those skills in her.
Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”)
Phil Dunster (“Ted Lasso”)
Brett Goldstein (“Ted Lasso”)
James Marsden (“Jury Duty”)
Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“The Bear”)
Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”)
Henry Winkler (“Barry”)
Who I Want To Win: Tyler James Williams (Abbott)
This is another category where I think that Abbott Elementary will come out on top. Williams character of Gregory was explored a lot more in the second season and it shows how well crafted the story is becoming. Williams does a good job charming the screen and and gracing others with his presence.
Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Alex Borstein (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)
Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”)
Janelle James (“Abbott Elementary”)
Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”)
Juno Temple (“Ted Lasso”)
Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”)
Jessica Williams (“Shrinking”)
Who I Want To Win: Janelle James ('Abbott Elementary')
Sheryl Lee Ralph triumphantly took home this award last year. That is why I think that it is Janelle James turn to get that award. James plays her role as Principal Ave exceptionally good! She is hilarious, fun, yet caring at the same time. Her comedic timing is perfect and her jokes makes everyone laugh. That makes her the strongest candidate for this ward.
Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
F. Murray Abraham (“The White Lotus”)
Nicholas Braun (“Succession”)
Michael Imperioli (“The White Lotus”)
Theo James (“The White Lotus”)
Matthew Macfadyen (“Succession”)
Alan Ruck (“Succession”)
Will Sharpe (“The White Lotus”)
Alexander Skarsgård (“Succession”)
Who I Want To Win: Alan Ruck ('Succession')
I am currently watching Succession and the season that I am on now, I don't really see that much of Alan Ruck's character Connor Roy. However, I do believe that when is on screen he portrays the eldest Roy sibling certainly well. I think that everyone is the cast is phenomenal in this show so it is a no brainer with this nomination list Even though this category have nominees from only two shows, Ruck would be a good winner. McFadyen have already taken home to trophy so it would be refreshing to see someone new take it.
Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Jennifer Coolidge (“The White Lotus”)
Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”)
Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”)
Sabrina Impacciatore (“The White Lotus”)
Aubrey Plaza (“The White Lotus”)
Rhea Seehorn (“Better Call Saul”)
J. Smith-Cameron (“Succession”)
Simona Tabasco (“The White Lotus”)
Who I Want To Win: Jennifer Coolidge ('The White Lotus')
Coolidge in season one of The White Lotus was memorable. She stoos out the most in the cast and honestly her character had the better storyline. Coolidge is charming and boisterous. She established herself as a serious actress and taking home another Emmy will cement her legend status.
Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Murray Bartlett (“Welcome to Chippendales”)
Paul Walter Hauser (“Black Bird”)
Richard Jenkins (“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”)
Joseph Lee (“Beef”)
Ray Liotta (“Black Bird”)
Young Mazino (“Beef”)
Jesse Plemons (Love & Death”)
Who I Want To Win: Joseph Lee
This category is hard because I did not watch any shows that these actors were nominated for. Therefore, Joseph Lee seems like the best contender due to how good the show BEEF is being received. The acting was praised well so that have to mean that he preformed well in the Netflix series.
Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie
Annaleigh Ashford (“Welcome to Chippendales”)
Maria Bello (“Beef”)
Claire Danes (“Fleishman Is in Trouble”)
Juliette Lewis (“Welcome to Chippendales”)
Camila Morrone (“Daisy Jones & The Six”)
Niecy Nash-Betts (“Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”)
Merritt Wever “(“Tiny Beautiful Things”)
Who I Want To Win: Niecy Nash- Betts ('Dahmer')
I am not too crazy about Dahmer due to its very sensitive subject matter and the discourse it caused, that doesn't take away from the performances of the actors. I also did not watch this show, but Niecy Nash have always been a strong actress. Daisy Jones is nominated, but I think that Dahmer was a how that needed the attention that it received.
Guest Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Bernthal (“The Bear”)
Luke Kirby (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”)
Nathan Lane (“Only Murders In The Building”)
Pedro Pascal (“Saturday Night Live”)
Oliver Platt (“The Bear”)
Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”)
Who I Want To Win: Jon Bernthal ('The Bear')
Season two of The Bear explore more of the family dynamic of Carmy. One of those episodes was called 'Fishes'. The episode follows Carmy as he is home for the holidays and it is just pure chaos. This is also the longest that I have seen Carmy's older brother Michael, played by Bernthal, in a episode. Bernthal transforms Michael into this intense figure that have a soft side for his brother. Everyone in the cast had powerful and raw performances. But, Bernthal really moved me and that is exactly why he earned this nomination.
Guest Actress in a Comedy Series
Becky Ann Baker (“Ted Lasso”)
Quinta Brunson (“Saturday Night Live”)
Taraji P. Henson (“Abbott Elementary”)
Judith Light “Poker Face”)
Sarah Niles (“Ted Lasso”)
Harriet Walter (“Ted Lasso”)
Who I Want To Win: Taraji P. Henson ('Abbott Elementary')
I always wondered who was going to portray Janine's mother in Abbott Elementary. And Taraji P. Henson could not have been a better choice. The dynamic between the two actresses showed that mother-daughter relationship come to life. Taraji is already a comedy actress, so this role is a good reminder of her comedic genius.
Guest Actor in a Drama Series
Murray Bartlett (“The Last of Us”)
James Cromwell (“Succession”)
Lamar Johnson (“The Last of Us”)
Arian Moayed (“Succession”)
Nick Offerman (“The Last of Us”)
Keivonn Montreal Woodard (“The Last of Us”)
Who I Want To Win: Keivonn Montreal Woodward ("The Last of Us")
The Last of Us had some really emotional episodes that lead to good acting. So, this one is tough for me. While I liked the performances from all three TLOU nominees, Keivonn had the most impressive portrayal. Not only is he only ten years old, but he is also deaf. That is really awe-inspiring and shows his level of professionalism at a young age. On top of all that, this is Woodward's first ever role and he received a Emmy nomination for it. It would be nice to see him win and continue his, already great, career.
Guest Actress in a Drama Series
Hiam Abbass (“Succession”)
Cherry Jones (“Succession”)
Melanie Lynskey (“The Last of Us”)
Storm Reid (“The Last of Us”)
Anna Torv (“The Last of Us”)
Harriet Walter (“Succession”)
Who I Want To Win: Storm Reid ("The Last of Us")
As I mentioned previously, The Last Of Us is such a heartbreaking show, Each episode have sentiment and emotion behind it. Storm Reid as Riley was such as good fit. Not only does Storm look like the video game character, but she also have the same heart as her. The moments that was shared between Ellie and Riley was so devasting which makes the plot of the show even heavier. It is no shock that Reid snagged a nomination because she was so good as her role as Gia (Rue's sister) in Euphoria. She enhanced her skills and her talent is only going up from here.
